Sardar quake: visiting Arcadia
An Earthquake with te epicentrum under the Saradar mountains, did severe damage at Gr. The island Arcadia was hit. The GGS explorer Khu decided to investigate the damage and asked the help of fellow society member Neph, the winter jarl of Arcadia
[10:57] Khuyildar Bluebird: well i am ready
[10:57] Wendy String: please follow
[10:58] The Jarls Castle Gathering Gong shouts: The Gathering Gong calls all Arcadians to the castle
[10:58] *FS* Warning System (gong) shouts: The Gathering Gong calls all Arcadians to the castle
[10:59] Wendy String: please have a seat Sir and neph will be here shortly
[10:59] Wendy String: tal neph
[11:00] Wendy String: we have a visitor from teh gorean geophysical society
[11:00] Nephtides: *stands up upon hearing the gong, lays the quill aside, and nods friendly at the arrivors*
[11:00] Khuyildar Bluebird looks around and sees a man "tal, I am Khu, and explorer"
[11:00] Nephtides: Ah! Very good *Tals the man formally* WEelcome on Arcadia Sir
[11:00] Khuyildar Bluebird: an explorer of geophysical phenomenae
[11:00] Nephtides: I am Neph, the Jarl hereabouts
[11:01] Nephtides: Thank You for bringing our guest, Wendy
[11:01] Wendy String: you are most welcome
[11:01] Khuyildar Bluebird: "ah , you ar Neph, I heard of your name, you are a metalurgist, if i am well"
[11:01] Nephtides: We have fresh blackwine ready, if you care for it
[11:01] Khuyildar Bluebird: blackwine will do
[11:01] Nephtides: *nods* indeed Sir, that is my craft
[11:01] Khuyildar Bluebird: my skills lay in Geomorfologhy
[11:02] Nephtides: *looks dead impressed* Something with form, hm?
[11:02] Khuyildar Bluebird: The landscape
[11:02] Nephtides: *waves at the Tharlarion passing* Tou! Good boy!
[11:02] Khuyildar Bluebird: the surface form of the planet
[11:02] Nephtides: *nods, smiles and pours two cups*
[11:03] Nephtides: It´s first slave Sir, sugar and cream are there if ye please *points at the greenish taharian chairs invitingly*
[11:04] Nephtides: *stirs sugar and cream into his cup*
[11:04] Nephtides: *shoves a bowl of pastries near*
[11:05] Khuyildar Bluebird takes a cup and adds some milk
[11:05] Nephtides: I have heard a lot about your society, Sir.. I believe it is the recent quake, and the exploded isle nearby that yer interested in?
[11:06] Khuyildar Bluebird: yes, such disaster create new landscape, and more important, explain existing landscape forms
[11:07] Nephtides: *nods, interested*
[11:07] Nephtides: I have observed there is still a small amount of rock added there daily
[11:07] Nephtides: the sky in this direction was red at night
[11:07] Nephtides: Tou , sit
[11:08] Nephtides: meet our youngest war tharlarion
[11:08] Nephtides: *sighs* due to our bankers pampering of it, it thinks its.. i dunno.. a giani or other pet *grins*
[11:08] Khuyildar Bluebird: Theories try to explain that landscapes are explained by a combination of natural phenomenae, as well as human acting, or interference of the Priest ings. That latter field is a tricky one, since some claim the Priest Kings don't exists, but there are forms in teh surface of Gor which no normal theory can explain
[11:09] Khuyildar Bluebird looks at the animal
[11:09] Nephtides: *looks amused* There are people who doubt the kings exist?
[11:09] Khuyildar Bluebird: yea, in some cities, and of course in Torvaldslansd
[11:10] Nephtides: ah.. no, i think not, Sir
[11:10] Nephtides: at least hereabouts it´s more like some Odinists take them fer hostile gods
[11:10] Nephtides: I can only smirk there Sir.. I need the blue flame fer my work´s highest reaches
[11:11] Nephtides: seeing its power, i doubt not there are kings
[11:12] Khuyildar Bluebird: I have seen things also that I am sure they exists. What they are, i don't know, since i have never met one, and I am glad for that
[11:13] Khuyildar Bluebird: And i aslo saw the mentioned "blue flame "at work, in a tempel in Tasta, long ago
[11:13] Nephtides: aye.. though i AM curious, be that blasphemic as it will *smiles and sips*
[11:13] Nephtides: *nods* it is incredible
[11:14] Nephtides: the way it changes the steel is like a magicians miracle
[11:14] Khuyildar Bluebird nods "i heard the blue color was caused by the enormus heat of the flame, which even evaporated steel"
[11:14] Nephtides: the wek parts, it does, aye
[11:14] Nephtides: weak
[11:14] Nephtides: what remains rings like the finest crystal
[11:15] Nephtides: Tou? sit or out, boy, ye scratch the floorboards
[11:16] Nephtides: *thinks about making cork shoes for the monster*
[11:16] Khuyildar Bluebird watches the war tharlarion a bit nervous
[11:16] Nephtides: ahh he´s good as milk, most o´all times
[11:16] Nephtides: *shakes head* I wouldn´t have believed they CAN be pampered
[11:17] Khuyildar Bluebird: I heard a story about Larls being tamed, but i fear thats justa fable"he thinks a moment "metal in crystal layers, must have enormous strength
[11:19] Khuyildar Bluebird: but i am no expert, only spoke some master in black smithery
[11:19] Nephtides: *nods* I am on research there, Sir
[11:19] Nephtides: In my wanderings of northern and middle Gor, i acquired a few swords from the pani lands
[11:19] Khuyildar Bluebird: Then your knowledge is far advanged above mine in this field
[11:20] Nephtides: they use that principle in swordmaking
[11:20] Nephtides: sheeted, layered steel
[11:20] Khuyildar Bluebird nods "that would make incredible strong and sharp swords
[11:21] Khuyildar Bluebird: "layered steel" he must overthink this concept "how do the laye stick together?'
[11:22] Nephtides: They are forged like this *grabs a napkin of thin rep, and folds it zigzaggedly*
[11:22] Nephtides: then, they harden only the side with the all-closed folds
[11:22] Nephtides: i would already be beheaded there, if they knew how much i could guess
[11:23] Khuyildar Bluebird sees the handling "not unlike some earth-Gor layers of stoe, pressed together under the pressure o pasangs of rock above it"
[11:23] Khuyildar Bluebird: stone*
[11:23] Nephtides: fascinating
[11:23] Nephtides: say.. you might know
[11:23] Nephtides: *seems a bit anxious to ask*
[11:24] Nephtides: Does, erm.. does rock flow, without heat?
[11:24] Khuyildar Bluebird: "all theory, but some slavewe catched, said they are quite advanced in that field on the barbarian lands"
[11:24] Nephtides: Cause we found a hammer of a torvaldian miner, and it was half in sandstone
[11:24] Khuyildar Bluebird: i guess there will be heat, but not enough to melt it, otehrwise there would no longer be layers
[11:25] Khuyildar Bluebird: a hammer in sandstone" he scratches his hair "thats indeed peculiar, because sandstone is very hard. This most be the work of the kings"
[11:27] Nephtides: *nods* we have it here, i had it broken out
[11:27] Nephtides: it´s not even a very old hammer. maybe 300 years
[11:27] Khuyildar Bluebird: "yes, its worth examining"
[11:28] Khuyildar Bluebird: "300 years, is a second in the forming of such rocks, such takes millenia, miljons of years"
[11:29] Khuyildar Bluebird: "how did you measure the age of the hammer? "
[11:29] Khuyildar Bluebird: how*
[11:29] Nephtides: It´s the form mainly, Sir
